CHRISTOPHER LOGAN FROM AYR ESCAPES JAIL AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 14-YEAR-OLD SCHOOLGIRL IN AYR
In a disturbing incident that took place in Ayr, a 27-year-old man named Christopher Logan was involved in a sexual assault against a young girl, who was only 14 years old at the time.The assault occurred in March of the previous year, and despite the severity of the allegations, Logan was not sentenced to prison but received a community-based punishment instead.
According to reports heard at Ayr Sheriff Court, Logan's actions during the incident were deeply inappropriate and troubling.
The court was informed that the assault took place in various locations within Ayr, including Ellisland Terrace, Ellisland Square, and Mill Street.
During the attack, Logan is accused of fondling the girl’s breasts, an act that constitutes sexual assault.
The court also heard that Logan made an attempt to kiss the girl, adding a further layer of misconduct to his actions.
Sheriff Desmond Leslie did not hold back in his condemnation of Logan’s behavior.
He described the actions as “highly unacceptable,” emphasizing that such conduct is unacceptable regardless of the motivations or circumstances.
The sheriff pointed out that the assault had a lasting impact on the victim, stating, “It changed her view of you.” As part of his sentence, Logan was ordered to participate in a Community Payback Order for a period of three years.
This order requires him to be under supervision and to engage in a rehabilitation program titled ‘Moving Forward Making Changes,’ which will be overseen by a supporting officer.
The program itself could last up to three years, reflecting the seriousness of the offense.
In addition to the community order, Logan will be subject to a Sex Offenders Notification Order for three years.
This means he will be monitored and required to comply with certain restrictions and reporting obligations during this period.
Representing Logan, his solicitor Niall McFadyen acknowledged the court’s decision, stating, “I find it difficult to disagree with the thrust of the report in terms of the disposal.” The case highlights ongoing concerns about sexual misconduct and the importance of appropriate judicial responses to protect vulnerable individuals in communities like Ayr.
