SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR STALKING AND ASSAULTING WOMEN
A man described as dangerous, 38-year-old Jonathan King, has received a prison sentence after repeatedly following women and committing sexual assaults in Paisley.King admitted to eight charges during a hearing at the High Court in Kilmarnock on July 22, 2024, following evidence provided by his victims.
His illegal activities occurred at several locations in Paisley from February 2019 through November 2021.
One particularly serious incident involved a 16-year-old girl on February 22, 2019, near Fountain Gardens and Love Street, where he approached her, put his arm around her, asked for a kiss, then forcibly grabbed her hair and sexually assaulted her.
In August 2021, authorities reported that King caused alarm by stalking multiple women around High Street, Gilmour Street, and County Square, and by persisting in conversation attempts even after being told to stop.
He was also accused of assaulting a woman on September 23, 2021, by grabbing her hand and trying to force it behind her back, along with approaching two other women in areas like Glen Lane and Fountain Gardens, where he committed sexual assaults.
King acknowledged that he had violated bail restrictions that prohibited him from approaching women unless they were relatives or acquaintances.
On August 21, 2024, he was sentenced to a total of eight and a half years in prison, including 54 months behind bars.
His name has been entered into the sex offenders register indefinitely, and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was issued for five years.
Law enforcement officials described King as an opportunist who is dangerous and poses a significant threat to women, stressing that justice is served when offenders like him are convicted and that victims are urged to come forward.
