NOTTINGHAMSHIRE MAN WHO DROVE WOMAN AROUND THE COUNTRY SUBJECTED HER TO 'HARROWING ORDEAL'
A man who drove a woman around the country and 340 miles away from her Nottinghamshire home has been jailed.
Jonathan Cook, 25, took the victim to various locations in the country including Yorkshire, Derbyshire, London and Cornwall during a week-long ordeal.
The pair were found on Marazion Beach, Cornwall, after worried family members contacted Nottinghamshire Police.
Cook was subsequently arrested upon the two being found on October 16, 2021.
Cook, of Holbeck Lane, Holbeck, Worksop, used methods of controlling and coercive behaviour including contacting the victim between March and October last year, despite her requests for him to stop.
He would also follow the woman in his vehicle, visit her address when she was not in, and speak to her friends and family members in an attempt to isolate her from other people.
Cook pleaded guilty to using controlling and coercive behaviour and was jailed for two years when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday (7 March 2022).
He was also made subject of a 10-year restraining order.
Detective Constable Morgan Fitzpatrick, of Nottinghamshire Police, commented on the case, praising the victim's bravery and reaffirming the police's commitment to supporting victims of such offences.
