JOHN WARMAN FROM BROMSGROVE JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN BROMSGROVE AND WORCESTER

In a case that has shocked the community of Bromsgrove, a local taxi driver named John Warman has been sentenced to two years in prison after admitting to engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl. The incident took place in January 2012 and has since garnered significant attention from both law enforcement and the public.

Warman, aged 28 and residing on Birmingham Road in Bromsgrove, appeared before Worcester Crown Court to face charges related to his misconduct. His legal representative, Kristina Montgomery QC, provided a detailed account of the circumstances leading to his guilty plea. She explained that the young girl had developed a romantic interest in Warman after he was assigned to drive her to school on several occasions. This budding infatuation was initially innocent but took a darker turn when her mother discovered explicit text messages on her mobile phone, which revealed the developing relationship.

The police investigation confirmed Warman’s involvement, and he was subsequently seen by authorities. The court heard that Warman had taken the girl to a secluded wooded area, where he engaged in sexual intercourse with her after locking the doors of his taxi. Despite being aware of her age—only 15—Warman claimed that the girl had a crush on him and that he believed she was willing. The prosecution highlighted that the relationship was not entirely initiated by Warman; however, he admitted that he should have recognized the inappropriate nature of their interactions and distanced himself from her.

During the proceedings, Miss Montgomery emphasized that Warman’s actions were not solely his own making, acknowledging that the girl was persistent in her advances. She pointed out that Warman wanted the relationship to end but failed to take the necessary steps to do so. The court was also informed that Warman was unaware of the mother’s concerns about her daughter’s whereabouts and the late return home on the night in question. The sexual encounter was described as consensual, with the girl not being coerced, but her persistence was noted.

In sentencing, Judge Robert Juckes QC condemned Warman’s breach of trust, especially given his role as a taxi driver, which involves the safety and well-being of passengers. The judge remarked that Warman had succumbed to temptation, a serious lapse considering his position. As part of his sentence, Warman was ordered to register on the sex offenders list for ten years and was subject to a sexual offences prevention order that prohibits him from having contact with children for the same duration.
