CONVICTED RAPIST BACK IN COURT AFTER CAUGHT WITH SEX WORKER
A convicted rapist who served 10 years for raping and robbing prostitutes was back in court after being caught with a sex worker in an alleyway.
Police apprehended John Paul Wallace as he was about to have sex with a prostitute in central Middlesbrough, 14 years after his rape conviction.
He was jailed for 10 years in May 2000 for rape, robbery, and attempted robbery after taking two prostitutes into an alley.
He tried to rob them at knifepoint and, when one woman couldn't give him the money, he raped her, as heard in Teesside Crown Court.
Recently, he was given a suspended jail term for flouting a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) issued in 2011, which banned him from having any physical or sexual relationship with a female without informing his police risk management officer and the woman of his conviction.
The judge, Recorder Eric Elliott QC, acknowledged his efforts to turn his life around over the past few years, leading to a six-month jail term suspended for two years with supervision.
Wallace is on the sex offenders’ register for life.
