BACKGROUND reports have been ordered into a Galashiels man who admitted a stalking offence.
Sixty-two-year-old John Mein, of Gala Park Court, pleaded guilty at Jedburgh Sheriff Court to engaging in a course of conduct which was abusive to a woman.
In Scott Street, Galashiels, between August 1 and December 30, he would repeatedly send her text messages, attend at her home address, post her letters, repeatedly telephone her and leave her a voice message and loiter outside her home address.
Sentence was deferred until March 2 at Selkirk Sheriff Court for the production of a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty order assessment.
He was granted bail with the special conditions not to enter Scott Street or contact the woman.
