In a significant case that has sent shockwaves through the local community, a man named John Marshall, aged 71, has been found guilty of sexually abusing young boys during his time as a football coach in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Marshall, a resident of Longbenton in North Tyneside, faced a total of 11 charges of indecent assault. Despite his legal team arguing that he was unfit to stand trial due to health reasons, a jury at Newcastle Crown Court ultimately determined that he had committed the offences he was accused of. According to court evidence, Marshall had sexually assaulted a 14-year-old boy during private coaching sessions.
