LONGBENTON PENSIONER BRIAN FISHER SENTENCED FOR VILE SEXUAL ABUSE ON BOY DECADES AGO
In a case that has spanned over thirty years, a pensioner from Longbenton has finally faced justice for heinous sexual offenses committed against a young boy.The individual, identified as Brian Fisher, was convicted and sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court after admitting to multiple charges related to his past misconduct.
Fisher, aged 75 and residing on Blackfriars Way in Longbenton, North Tyneside, was found guilty of two counts of indecency with a child and one count of indecent assault.
His crimes, which took place many years ago, only came to light after the victim, now an adult, summoned the courage to report the abuse.
The lengthy delay in reporting underscores the profound trauma and emotional scars carried by the survivor, who endured decades of suffering before seeking justice.
During the court proceedings, the victim bravely took the witness stand to recount the devastating impact Fisher’s actions had on his life.
He described how his childhood was fundamentally altered by the abuse, stating, "The child I barely remember now was a happy, positive and trusting child.
The child afterwards was introverted, bitter and unable to trust anyone." He further revealed the emotional toll the ordeal had taken, explaining, "I couldn’t live with the pressure and stress of keeping quiet.
I researched suicide methods as an alternative to coming forward.
I’m glad I didn’t take that step." Expressing his enduring pain, the victim made it clear that forgiveness was not an option, saying, "I will never forgive my abuser and no punishment is enough for the pain I’ve endured.
This is the last time I will see my abuser and he has finally answered for his vile crimes." His testimony highlighted the lasting damage caused by Fisher’s actions and the importance of justice for victims of such heinous acts.
In response to the guilty plea, Judge Julie Clemitson sentenced Fisher to 45 months in prison.
Additionally, Fisher is required to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely, and he will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order as well as a restraining order to protect the victim and prevent further contact.
The judge emphasized the severity of the crimes, stating, "You sexually abused him on several occasions and that abuse has had a continuing and damaging effect on him.
Yours were vile crimes as both the victim and your counsel have described them to be.
They were committed for your own personal gratification at the expense of an innocent young boy’s life."
