GALASHIELS SEX OFFENDER JOHN LIVESEY CHARGED WITH RAPE
JANUARY 2026: A 58-year-old man has been charged with the rape of a woman. He appeared at Selkirk Sheriff Court in private and gave an address in Galashiels in the langlee area.
He is charged under section 1 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009.
He made no plea during the hearing and the case was continued for further examination.
He was granted bail FEBRUARY 2017: A sex pest caught groping a woman at a seaside nightspot has had his curfew relaxed by a court so he can go to his own 50th birthday party.
The decision by magistrates to grant the late night reprieve to John Livesey was met with dismay by local politicians, who described the decision as “extraordinary”.
They decided to let him off his 7pm curfew so he could stay after his girlfriend applied for permission for him to go to the party at the Yacht pub in Pensarn, Abergele, on Saturday night.
He will be allowed to stay out until 2am.
Only last month Livesey was given a suspended jail term of 90 days and put on a twelve-week overnight curfew after touching a young woman on a night out in Rhyl.
The angry and shocked victim, 27, accused him of “putting your hand up my f***ing skirt”.
She approached bouncers and the police were called.
