FORMER CHILD ABUSE INQUIRY LAWYER JOHN HALLEY FACES SEX CHARGES
John Halley, 59, was charged with sex offences after his arrest on 15 February following a police search at an address in Caddonfoot, near Galashiels.He was a lead junior counsel on the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry until October 2016.
He is set to appear before Livingston Sheriff Court at a date yet to be decided.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: "A 59-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with sexual offences." The Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry was established in October 2015 to investigate child abuse in care settings across Scotland.
It is now led by Lady Anne Smith, who was appointed in August 2016.
