2015: MAN JAILED FOR SEX ASSAULT ON NURSE
A 65-year-old man who committed a sexual assault against a nurse during a medical appointment has been sentenced to nine months in prison. The incident occurred at the Waters Meeting Health Centre on December 5 of the previous year, where John Foulkes went to have a leg wound dressed.
Prosecutor Gwen Henshaw explained that after the treatment, Foulkes removed his jacket and top, lifted his vest, and tried to engage the nurse in a conversation about his tattoos.
Subsequently, he slid off the treatment table and inappropriately touched her by sliding his hand up her skirt to her bottom, while saying, "Let's have a look at your legs then." The nurse was reportedly very shocked by his actions, and she instructed Foulkes to leave, then reported the incident to her supervisor and the police.
The assault has reportedly affected the nurse’s confidence, and she is now fearful of encountering Foulkes again.
Foulkes, who resides on Westworth Close in Bolton, denied the sexual assault, but magistrates convicted him and forwarded the case to Bolton Crown Court for sentencing.
It emerged that Foulkes had previously served a prison sentence for a similar offence in 2012, when he followed a nurse at the Royal Bolton Hospital and committed a sexual assault.
Defence lawyer Andrew Costello highlighted that Foulkes faces multiple personal and psychological issues.
The judge, Timothy Stead, sentenced Foulkes to nine months and also imposed additional restrictions, including a ban from working with children and vulnerable adults.
Furthermore, a sexual harm prevention order was issued, prohibiting Foulkes from contacting or approaching the nurse in any way.
