JEREMY FOWLER FROM WALTHAM AND GRIMSBY CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND BESTIALITY PICTURES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local communities of Grimsby and Waltham, Jeremy Fowler, aged 45, of Danesfield Avenue, Waltham, was found to be in possession of highly illegal and disturbing images on his mobile devices. The incident came to light in August 2014 when Fowler left his mobile phone inside a taxi in Grimsby, which was subsequently handed over to the taxi company's management by the driver.Upon inspection, the taxi company's staff noticed that the phone contained an indecent image of a child, prompting immediate action. The driver reported the discovery to the authorities, leading to police involvement. When contacted, Fowler initially believed that the police were reaching out on behalf of the taxi firm, indicating a possible misunderstanding or lack of awareness about the severity of the situation.
Authorities then conducted a thorough search of Fowler’s residence on Stanley Street in Grimsby. During the search, they recovered multiple mobile phones, each containing a significant number of illegal images. One device was found to hold 320 illicit images depicting children and three videos classified as extreme pornography. Another phone contained an even larger cache, with 415 illegal images of children and eight videos of extreme pornography. A third device was also seized, containing 17 images of children. Additionally, investigators uncovered videos that depicted acts of bestiality involving a dog, further highlighting the disturbing nature of the material found.
Prosecutor Jeremy Evans presented the case at Grimsby Crown Court, revealing the extent of Fowler’s possession of illegal content. On December 2, Fowler admitted to three counts of possessing indecent photographs of children and three counts of possessing extreme pornography. His actions have caused significant concern given the nature of the images and videos involved.
During the court proceedings, defense lawyer Andrew Bailey emphasized that Fowler had no prior criminal record and expressed remorse for his actions. Bailey pointed out that the offences had already resulted in severe personal consequences for Fowler, including the loss of his employment. He also noted that Fowler had fully confessed to the charges.
In sentencing, the court imposed a one-year prison sentence that was suspended, meaning Fowler would not serve time immediately but would be under supervision. Additionally, he was ordered to complete a two-year supervision order, which includes participation in a sex offenders’ treatment programme. An indefinite sexual offences prevention order was also issued against him, requiring him to register as a sex offender and adhere to specific restrictions to prevent further offending.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of illegal and harmful images, and it serves as a stark reminder of the serious legal and social consequences faced by those involved in such activities.
