EBBW VALE PAEDOPHILE DOWNLOADED DISGUSTING CHILD ABUSE PICTURES
In February 2021, a pensioner from Ebbw Vale was sentenced for the possession of over 500 child abuse images.The man, Jeffrey Reynolds, aged 72 and residing on Victoria Avenue, will need to register as a sex offender for a decade.
Reynolds received a partly suspended jail sentence after admitting to downloading the disturbing images online.
Prosecutor Marian Lewis outlined during the hearing at Cardiff Crown Court that police officers raided his residence last summer and discovered a total of 56 images classified as Category A—the most severe—73 Category B images, and 382 Category C pictures.
Reynolds pleaded guilty on three counts related to possessing indecent images.
The presiding judge, Michael Fitton QC, described the images as "disgusting" and confirmed Reynolds was imprisoned for eight months, suspended for 18 months, with a requirement to undergo rehabilitation activities.
As part of his sentence, Reynolds must register as a sex offender until 2031 and is subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order that restricts his internet usage.
He was also ordered to pay £300 towards costs and a £100 surcharge for the victims.
Additionally, the judge ordered the seizure and destruction of electronic devices containing the illegal materials.
