JEFF MORRELL FROM STOCKWELL AND TEDDINGTON SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF TEENAGERS

In August 2010, a former educator named Jeff Morrell was sentenced to a total of three and a half years in prison after being convicted of sexually abusing two teenage boys. Morrell, aged 65 and residing on Peveril Drive in Teddington, was found guilty of 12 separate counts of sexual assault involving the two victims, who were aged 14 and 15 at the time of the offenses.

During the proceedings at the Old Bailey, the court heard that Morrell received an 18-month sentence for six of the offenses committed against one of the boys, and a three-and-a-half-year term for the remaining six offenses involving the other boy. These sentences are to be served concurrently, meaning Morrell will serve the longer sentence in full.

It was revealed that Morrell, who was once the head of a school in Stockwell during the 1970s, carried out these crimes while he was employed as a teacher. His career at the school spanned from 1973 to 1983, after which he resigned following a disciplinary hearing related to his inappropriate relationship with another student. Subsequently, in 1983, Morrell was convicted of gross indecency with a
