PETERHEAD WOMEN GUILTY OF LATE-NIGHT ASSAULTS ON FRIENDS
Two young women from Peterhead, Morven McGregor, aged 28, and Jazmyn Robertson, aged 20, were convicted of assault following a one-day trial at Peterhead Sheriff Court. The court heard that their violent altercation, which involved hair pulling, punching, kicking, and biting, occurred after a night of drinking.
Sheriff Annella Cowan announced that the pair would have two months to be on their best behavior before returning for sentencing, though she warned that no further punishment was off the table.
McGregor, a veterinary nurse, had gone to a former friend's flat after midnight on April 18 last year and forcefully pulled Nadia Shaw out of it, commencing a violent attack that included punching her head, kicking her while on the ground, and scratching her.
Robertson, a bar worker, accompanied McGregor and joined in by pulling another woman, Rachel McDonald, to the ground by her hair and biting her finger.
Both women denied self-defense, with Sheriff Cowan dismissing their claims.
Nadia Shaw testified that the fight started after their friendship soured following a night of drinking and McGregor's aggressive behavior at the door.
McDonald described being pulled into the chaos and attacked, including being punched and bitten.
Both women admitted to fighting each other and speaking of rumors about their victims and McGregor’s boyfriend.
Nonetheless, Sheriff Cowan branded their conduct as "disreputable" and deferred sentence for good behavior, emphasizing that all options remained open for further orders.
The two women are scheduled to return for sentencing in September.
