JAY GREEN FROM WESTON-SUPER-MARE PLEADS GUILTY TO CHILD ABDUCTION IN BRISTOL
In December 2018, a man from Weston-super-Mare was convicted of child abduction after admitting his involvement in the incident.Jay Green, aged 22, was found to have had feelings for a girl under the age of 16, though he firmly denied any sexual activity or intentions to engage in such conduct with her.
Green, whose residence is on Ellenborough Park Road in Weston-super-Mare, appeared before Bristol Crown Court on November 13 to plead guilty to the charge of abducting a child.
The court was informed that there was no evidence suggesting any sexual activity took place between Green and the girl.
Judge Mark Horton addressed the court, stating, "There is evidence of an entirely lopsided relationship.
The court needs to understand the full background on this from your perspective." The judge emphasized that the case was complex and required further examination.
Following the plea, the case was adjourned to allow for a probation report to be prepared, with sentencing scheduled for January 25.
Green, who also admitted to breaching two previously suspended prison sentences related to the possession of cannabis, was remanded in custody pending the next hearing.
This case highlights the serious legal consequences of child abduction and the importance of thorough judicial review in such sensitive matters.
