STAFFORDSHIRE POLICE OFFICER JAILED FOR EXPLICIT IMAGE EXCHANGE WITH DOMESTIC ABUSE VICTIM
A Staffordshire police officer, PC Jarrett Kinson, who was involved in investigating a domestic abuse case, has been sentenced to eight months behind bars after he sent an explicit image to a vulnerable woman through social media platforms during the period from March to July 2018.The officer, located in Burton-upon-Trent, admitted to charges of corrupt and improper exercises of police authority.
Staffordshire Police has confirmed that Kinson remains suspended pending internal disciplinary actions.
The force underlined that abusing police powers for sexual purposes is completely unacceptable, as it causes harm and emotional distress to those they are intended to serve and protect.
Deputy Chief Constable Nick Baker commented, "The misuse of police authority for sexual gain by officers or staff is never permissible.
It leads to harm and upset for the individuals involved, whom we are duty-bound to keep safe." This case sheds light on the misconduct of a current police officer who exploited his role to take advantage of a domestic abuse victim, leading to an eight-month incarceration for Kinson.
