CHELMSFORD OFFENDER SENTENCED TO 9 YEARS FOR RAPE OF VULNERABLE WOMAN
A Polish cleaner named Jaroslaw Wrzensinski, aged 41, who was working as a cleaner at several restaurants, was convicted of raping a young woman in the grounds of Chelmsford Cathedral. The victim, who was heavily intoxicated and described as vulnerable, had been out at Missoula bar and was walking down the High Street around 6am on Sunday, April 2.
Witnesses described her as repeating 'I cannot see' and a member of the public helped her reach safety near the cathedral.
Wrzensinski, who approached her after his night shift, targeted her in a public place, assaulted her sexually, and left her lying in a distressed state.
She sustained injuries to her shoulder, rib, ankle, and chest.
Police identified him from CCTV footage and arrested him the next day.
He admitted to the offense, and during sentencing at Chelmsford Crown Court on September 8, he was handed a nine-year prison term, with five years to be served before potential deportation.
The judge highlighted that the attack was deliberate and the victim was too intoxicated to consent, condemning his deception and emphasizing the lasting impact on her.
Wrzensinski had no previous convictions and will face possible deportation or a sexual offenses prevention order upon release.
