MALE CONVICTED OF CHILD PORN
A convicted child porn perv is operating an internet business from behind bars.Sick Jan Schmidt has launched a website selling "health and well-being" products.
His site lists his business base as the same Greenock flat where thousands of child abuse images were discovered.
Police uncovered the sordid stash of child porn on the 48-year-old's computer, CDs, and floppy discs when they raided the Union Street property last year.
Pervert Schmidt, originally from Germany, admitted to police he had created two of the images using a webcam.
At the High Court in Glasgow last week, Schmidt admitted downloading and distributing the disgusting images between November 2003 and June 2007.
A former colleague of Schmidt at IBM told the Tele: 'I am totally and utterly disgusted.
I hope the site gets hijacked or shut down.' The mother-of-two, who did not want to be named, added: 'The report of this sicko looking at child porn images made my stomach turn.' Perv Schmidt's profile on the Ataraxia site boasts that he can speak six languages and describes his strong "people handling skills".
Schmidt boasts on the site that he has seen a "dramatic improvement" in his own life since he started using the products he is peddling.
At the High Court in Glasgow, Lord Kinclaven remanded Schmidt in custody and deferred sentence until next month for reports.
