GALASHIESL MAN CHARGED WITH RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT

A 34-YEAR-OLD man will stand trial at the High Court in Glas­gow next year accused of rap­ing a woman in Lauder.

The charge against Jamie Simpson includes sexual assault by pen­et­ra­tion to her injury.

The offence is alleged to have been com­mit­ted in Novem­ber 2023.

Simpson of Galashiels, pleaded not guilty to the charge at a pre­lim­in­ary hear­ing at the High Court in Glas­gow this week and a trial date was set for Janu­ary 5, 2027.
