SECURITY GUARD INCITES DESTRUCTION IN DRUNKEN RAGE
A security guard named Jamie Edon, aged 30, caused a disturbance during a drunken argument with his then-girlfriend in Mintlaw. After they had been drinking at a friend's house and went on a pub crawl in Peterhead, issues arose upon returning home.
Edon was told to sleep on the sofa, but he damaged property, including a bedside cabinet, kicked a hole in the wall, and flung a lamp down the stairs.
His partner, fed up with his behavior, took his guitar and threw it out the front door.
Edon then went outside to retrieve it, which allowed his partner to lock him out.
Moments later, she heard a loud crash and found the guitar lying amid the shattered remains of her living room window.
Police arrived to find Edon in the garden, admitting, "I did it.
I threw it and smashed the glass because I couldn’t get in." He behaved threateningly and was aggressive, throwing expletives, punching, and kicking furniture and walls.
Edon later claimed he could not remember much of the incident, attributing his behavior to excessive alcohol consumption and mental health struggles.
He expressed remorse, stating he had never done anything similar before and was struggling with his mental health at the time, which he said he has since addressed with medical help.
The court ordered him to be of good behavior for two months, deferring sentencing until June, and he accepted his actions, though he did not outright condone them.
