WYMONDHAM MAN CLAIMS ‘CURIOSITY’ OVER 9,000 CHILD SEX IMAGES
A man found to have downloaded over 9,000 images of children claimed it was driven by 'curiosity' rather than sexual interest.
James Woodcock, 46, was arrested after police seized six electronic devices during a search of his property, where the images were discovered.
Among the images he admitted viewing were two in category A, 44 in category B, and 9,029 in category C.
Specialist cyber-crime officers had been tipped off about his involvement in online sexual material involving youngsters in 2023.
Woodcock pleaded guilty to making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs.
Norwich Magistrates’ Court was told he suggested the discovery was due to an addiction to pornography, not sexual interest in minors.
The court sentenced him to a 24-week prison sentence suspended for 24 months, with 30 rehabilitation days to be completed.
He was placed on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years and subject to a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
