JAMES THOMSON SHOCKS EYEMOUTH AND KELSO WITH CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IMAGES SENTENCE
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the communities of Kelso and Eyemouth, James Thomson, a 56-year-old man, was brought before Jedburgh Sheriff Court to face serious allegations related to the possession of explicit images and videos involving minors.The court proceedings revealed that Thomson had pleaded guilty to possessing a large collection of indecent photographs and films, which he had stored on his personal computer.
These illicit materials included some of the most severe category A images, depicting young girls from infancy up to 12 years old engaged in sexual activities with adults or other children.
The offences took place at a residence located at the Linn in Kelso, with the crimes spanning from September 2015 until November 30 of the previous year.
The court was informed that Thomson had uploaded these disturbing images and videos onto his computer, which contributed to the gravity of his offence.
During the hearing, it was noted that Thomson, who currently resides in Eyemouth, has faced social repercussions within his family, who have reportedly ostracized him following the revelation of his actions.
The court also ordered Thomson to be placed on the sex offenders’ register for a period of two years, a measure intended to monitor and restrict his activities moving forward.
Furthermore, Thomson was sentenced to a two-year supervision order, which entails regular monitoring and support to prevent any further offending.
As part of his community payback order, he was explicitly instructed that any internet-enabled device he uses must be made available for inspection by police or social workers if requested.
This condition aims to ensure compliance with the law and prevent the possession or distribution of illegal material in the future.
