CLECKHEATON MAN JAILED FOR 12 YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES
A man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for serious sexual offences involving two victims.James Metcalfe, aged 28 and from Cleckheaton, was convicted at Bradford Crown Court following a detailed investigation by Kirklees safeguarding detectives.
The offences date back several years, with allegations coming to police attention in 2019 when one victim reported her abuse, and in 2020 when the second victim contacted officers.
Metcalfe was arrested in 2020 and charged in 2022.
The court trial in June this year led to his conviction.
Detective Constable Mark Gregory described the offences as 'abhorrent' and praised the victims for their courage in coming forward, stating: 'Both of these women showed true courage in reporting Metcalfe’s offending.
I want to thank them for their bravery, which helped secure this conviction and his punishment.
We understand how difficult it is to come forward with such reports, but victims can trust that we support them.'
