FALKIRK MAN GUILTY OF ATTEMPTED MURDER ON HIS MOTHER
A MONSTER battered his mum so hard with a rolling pin that her dentures fell out in a horrific murder bid after she kicked him out their Falkirk flat.James Martin, 41, left mum Helen Wright laying in a pool of blood for more than three hours until her sister found her.
The brutal attack happened in January this year after Helen had kicked Martin out of her house.
This, according to prosecutor David Dickson, left the thug "unhappy".
He returned and had another row with his mum before grabbing a rolling pin and thumped her "several times" with it before punching and kicking her as she lay on the deck.
A judge heard how Helen's life has been wrecked by the ordeal and that she can no longer live on her own.
Mr Dickson told the court: “Martin walked into the kitchen area and took hold of a rolling pin lying on the table.
“He struck his mother several times on the head and body with it.
“This caused her to fall to the floor where Martin then repeatedly punched and kicked her.” Her glasses and earrings also came off after she was brutalised with such force.
She had been a regular at her local choir but can no longer follow songs and had to give it up.
Mr Dickson added: “He left her on the floor severely injured.
It would have been clear to him that she required medical care.” She had bleeding on the brain and jaw, cheek, rib and had collarbone fractures.
There were also wounds so deep her skull could be seen.
He said: “He is sorry for what happened but cannot remember”.
Lord Boyd deferred sentencing for reports.
