MIDDLESBROUGH DAD WARNED TO 'BREAK CYCLE' OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AFTER ASSAULT
A young dad, James Fleming, has been warned to 'break the cycle' of domestic abuse to prevent his son from facing similar charges. The 22-year-old left his partner with a fractured wrist after he punched and kicked her upon returning home intoxicated.
He also damaged her iPhone 11 by smashing it on the ground, causing £300 worth of damage.
The victim escaped to her sister's house before police arrived following the attack on December 21 last year.
In a victim impact statement, she expressed her feelings, stating: “At the moment I don’t know how I feel; I feel numb and I am in pain with my injuries.
I’m glad it is over and I am safe.
I am frightened of him when he is like that – I hope he can get help.” Judge Christopher Smith sentenced Fleming to a two-year community order, including 46 rehabilitation activity requirement days and 120 hours of unpaid work, emphasizing the importance of breaking the cycle of domestic violence for future generations.
Fleming pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm and criminal damage after launching a violent attack, during which he pushed the victim to the floor, kicked her, and caused her injuries.
The court was informed that Fleming, of Ingleby Close, Eston, Middlesbrough, hopes to reconcile with his partner, who wishes he seeks help for his issues.
