JAMES DICKSON FROM DRUMCHAPEL CAUGHT WITH OVER 29,000 INDECENT IMAGES IN GLENROTHES
In a case that has shocked the local community, James Dickson, a resident of Drumchapel, was found to have stored an alarming collection of indecent material involving children.The investigation revealed that between May 2011 and September 2013, Dickson accessed and downloaded a staggering total of 29,674 indecent images, alongside 366 videos that collectively amounted to 44 hours of explicit content.
These illicit files were traced back to his address on Waverley Drive in Glenrothes, where authorities uncovered the extensive collection.
The discovery prompted a serious legal response, although Dickson was spared imprisonment.
During proceedings at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on a recent Tuesday, Sheriff James Williamson reviewed the case and noted that a social work report indicated Dickson posed a low risk of reoffending.
Despite the severity of the offense, the court opted for a community-based sentence.
James Dickson, aged 45, was handed a three-year community payback order.
This order requires him to complete 300 hours of unpaid work and participate in the Clyde Quay sex offenders project, a program aimed at rehabilitation and preventing future offenses.
The case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement and social services to address and mitigate the dangers posed by individuals involved in the possession and distribution of child exploitation material.
