EX FIFE BUS DRIVER NOW ON SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER
A sheriff in Fife addressed a Snapchat user with a firm warning: “If you seriously believe people your age are engaging in this behaviour, you are very sadly mistaken.” Aaron Reynold, who used to work as a bus driver in Kirkcaldy, appeared in Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court for sentencing on multiple charges.He confessed to sharing a video of himself having sex with his partner with her friend, and subsequently passing explicit images to her younger sister.
He also admitted to assaulting his partner by grabbing her neck unexpectedly and leaving visible marks.
Reynold, now listed on the sex offenders register, was criticized in court for what was described as immature and inappropriate conduct.
Prosecutor Eve McKaig recounted that on one evening, Reynold suddenly applied force to his partner’s neck, causing redness that lasted for days, though she initially didn’t report the incident.
She found photos of her partner’s neck taken by Reynold as evidence.
Reynold then approached another woman—his partner’s friend—whom he contacted via Snapchat, making negative comments about his partner and requesting nude images.
He shared explicit video content involving himself and her friend before sending sexually graphic images.
Further, Reynold contacted his partner’s teenage sister, believing she was older, sending her explicit pictures and messages, including images of his genitals.
Earlier, Reynold admitted to charges including assault, distributing sexual images, and encouraging a minor to view them.
His sentencing was postponed for social worker assessment.
His lawyer, Calum Harris, pointed out Reynold’s impulsivity and excessive online activity as factors in his behaviour.
Harris stated that Reynold has taken steps to stop communicating with others through certain apps and has ended his relationship.
Sheriff Elizabeth McFarlane made it clear that the seriousness of Reynold’s actions was comparable to those of older or repeat offenders, warning that prison was a likely outcome if circumstances were different.
She described Reynold, aged 22, as immature and without previous convictions, which influenced her decision to avoid incarceration.
The judge ordered Reynold to undertake 200 hours of unpaid work and a ten-week group therapy program.
He was also placed under supervision and on the sex offenders register for 18 months, during which he must stick to approved work, disclose new relationships, and keep his online activity transparent for inspection.
Finally, she issued a non-harassment order to prevent him from contacting his former partner for two years.
