JAMES BEVERIDGE SHAMES KELTY WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT ON DEMENTIA-STRICKEN WOMAN

A disturbing incident involving a 70-year-old man named James Beveridge has come to light, shocking the community of Kelty and raising serious concerns about the safety of vulnerable individuals. Beveridge was caught on camera committing a heinous sexual assault against an 80-year-old woman suffering from vascular dementia, a condition that severely impairs her memory and judgment.

According to reports, the elderly woman had wandered away from her home in Fife, prompting her family to take precautionary measures. Just before Christmas, her daughter installed surveillance cameras—one at the doorbell and another inside the living room—to monitor her mother’s movements and ensure her safety. These devices proved crucial in exposing the disturbing actions of Beveridge.

On the day of the incident, the woman left her residence and was later brought back by Beveridge, who was not a stranger to her. Unbeknownst to him, her daughter was watching the live feed from the doorbell camera, which showed her mother being led back into the house. The daughter then observed through the interior camera as Beveridge, in a brazen act of exploitation, pulled down his trousers to his thighs, kissed the elderly woman, and then proceeded to grope her.

Further distressing details emerged when Beveridge squeezed her breast and pulled up her top, actions that were captured on the camera footage. The daughter, alarmed by what she saw, immediately called her mother’s home. During the call, Beveridge answered the phone, and the daughter informed him that she was watching him on camera. She instructed him to leave the house and warned him never to return.

Police were promptly contacted after the daughter’s intervention. Investigators reviewed the audio and video recordings from the surveillance system, which revealed Beveridge making a series of highly inappropriate and sexual remarks to the elderly woman. Among these comments were statements like, “Thinking about me and you, we’d never be out of the bedroom,” and instructions such as “put your hands down there.” When asked if she had to do so, the woman hesitated, prompting Beveridge to respond, “three, two, one, go.”

Following the daughter’s call, Beveridge was heard expressing frustration, saying, “For f*** sake.” His actions and comments have led to serious legal consequences. Beveridge appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court, where he admitted to the charges. He confessed to repeatedly touching the woman’s body, kissing her on the mouth, seizing her breast, and making sexual remarks on January 28.

Judge James Hastie ordered a report and scheduled a sentencing hearing for April 9. In addition to his court appearance, Beveridge has been placed on the sex offenders register, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the community’s need for protection against such predatory behavior.
