HOMELESS MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR BRUTAL MURDER IN CAMBRIDGESHIRE
A 25-year-old homeless man named Jamal Bakhit was found guilty of the murder of his 23-year-old Swedish girlfriend, Rahmona Ahmedin, in Cambridgeshire.
The court was informed that Bakhit stabbed Rahmona with a kitchen knife after she attempted to leave their relationship.
Following the attack, he disposed of her body by dismembering it with a power saw, placing the remains into two suitcases, and burning them.
Rahmona's body was discovered in a lay-by on the A1301 near Hinxton on June 14.
Bakhit, who previously worked at a supermarket, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 20 years behind bars.
The court’s verdict noted that Bakhit was convicted by a jury despite denying the murder.
Evidence showed that he sent text messages from Rahmona’s phone to hide his involvement.
Authorities responded to concerns after Bakhit reported Rahmona missing, which prompted a forensic examination of her residence.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Rickells described the crime as 'a horrific act of violence against a young woman.' Rahmona’s family expressed their sorrow over her death, stating: 'By taking Rahmona from us, he has robbed a loving mother, father, sisters, and brothers of the joyful life we shared.'
