CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER WHO ATTACKED A LONE WOMAN IN CAMBRIDGE HAS BEEN JAILED
A sex offender convicted of attacking a woman alone in Cambridge has been sentenced to prison.
Cameron McNally, aged 26, started following a woman along Devonshire Road around 8:20 pm on 31 January.
The woman observed his shadow as he trailed her from behind and changed direction onto Mill Road, feeling still targeted.
Wearing a hood, McNally overtook her and withdrew money at a Sainsbury’s ATM.
While she continued her walk in the Mill Road vicinity, he suddenly grabbed her from behind and covered her mouth with his hand.
He then touched her before fleeing towards Mill Road as she screamed for help.
The woman contacted police, leading to McNally’s arrest on 3 February.
He was already familiar to law enforcement, having been convicted in March 2023 of sexually assaulting a woman on a bus the month prior.
On Thursday, 7 May, Cambridge Crown Court sentenced McNally, of Fortescue Road, Cambridge, to 20 months in prison after he admitted to sexual assault.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years and was issued an indefinite restraining order protecting the victim.
