2015: JAILED: THUG WHO ATTACKED PARTNER AND FATHER FIGURE IN FRONT OF HIS ONE-YEAR-OLD SON
A 21-year-old man named Jake Ramsden was sentenced to a decade behind bars after he carried out a violent assault on his partner in front of their one-year-old child.Ramsden repeatedly struck Rebecca Vipond, the mother of his infant son Kaiden, and also attacked Leslie Holland, a man Ramsden regarded as a paternal figure, at a residence on Huntroyde Avenue in Tonge Park, Bolton.
The brutality of the attack was so intense that blood was observed on the child's clothing.
Prosecutor Peter Cadwallader explained that Ramsden had gone missing for several days, struggled with drug-related issues causing mood fluctuations, and displayed erratic conduct.
The incident on March 14 escalated when Ramsden, upset over Ms Vipond being present at Mr Holland’s flat, assaulted both individuals by punching and kicking them.
Ms Vipond sustained bruising and cuts after approximately 20 strikes, while Mr Holland was struck at least four times, receiving repeated blows and kicks to the head.
His injuries included a fractured skull, a dislocated jaw, and extensive bruising.
He was placed into an induced coma and now faces ongoing difficulties with memory, speech, and has partial paralysis of his right eye.
Judge Timothy Clayson sentenced Ramsden to 10 years in prison, along with an additional three-year license period, designating him a dangerous offender.
The attack was described as 'horrific,' leaving lasting scars on both victims, with blood splattered on the child's clothing.
Ramsden, who resides on Old Mill Close in Horwich, admitted to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and assault causing actual bodily harm.
He is expected to serve approximately six years and eight months before being eligible for parole.
