JAIL FOR JAKE HAWKINS, SERIAL RAPIST WHO ATTACKED WOMEN IN PERTHSHIRE AND DUNDEE
A man identified as Jake Hawkins has been sentenced to six years in prison after a series of heinous sexual assaults committed against young women in the cities of Dundee and the region of Perthshire. The court proceedings revealed that Hawkins, aged 26, targeted vulnerable victims, often when they were under the influence of alcohol, medication, or were asleep, making them particularly susceptible to his predatory behavior.During the trial at the High Court in Edinburgh, the presiding judge, Lady Poole, condemned Hawkins’ actions, stating, “You took advantage of them for your own sexual gratification.” The court heard compelling evidence that demonstrated the victims experienced unwelcome, frightening, painful, and degrading encounters. Lady Poole emphasized that the psychological impact on these women was likely to be long-lasting and deeply damaging.
In her sentencing remarks, Lady Poole underscored the gravity of Hawkins’ crimes, describing them as “of the utmost seriousness.” She made it clear that society does not tolerate rape, sexual assaults, or any form of sexual violence. Despite Hawkins’ age at the time of the offenses and his lack of prior convictions, the court deemed his actions profoundly unacceptable and deserving of significant punishment.
Furthermore, the judge ordered Hawkins to remain under supervision for an additional three years following his release. She warned that any breach of the conditions of his license could result in his return to prison, underscoring the seriousness with which the court viewed his rehabilitation prospects.
It was also revealed that Hawkins, formerly residing in Scroggiehill, Almondbank, near Perth, had initially denied multiple charges during his trial. However, he was ultimately convicted of six counts of rape, one sexual assault, and one assault. In a disturbing postscript, Hawkins sent a message to one of his victims, stating, “There’s no excuse for what I did,” highlighting his awareness of the gravity of his actions and the remorse he expressed in that communication.
