GRIMSBY RAPIST WHO PREYED ON THREE WOMEN JAILED FOR LIFE
A convicted serial sex offender who targeted women and engaged in stalking has been given a life prison term.Police reports indicate that one of Jake Campbell's three victims was 'truly terrified for her life' during an attack that was both unprovoked and violent.
Residing on Imperial Avenue in Cleethorpes, Campbell, aged 27, committed his crimes on July 25, 2020, and again in the early hours of August 2, 2020.
An extensive investigation was launched, which included numerous inquiries and the examination of a large quantity of CCTV footage.
Campbell faced trial and was found unanimously guilty by a jury of rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, and inflicting actual bodily harm, leading to his appearance at Grimsby Crown Court for sentencing.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a mandatory minimum of 13 years behind bars.
Detective Constable Rick Brackenbury of the Humberside Police Protecting Vulnerable People Unit highlighted the victims' bravery and patience.
He commented, 'On three separate occasions, Campbell preyed upon and stalked women traveling alone, causing one woman to fear for her life during his violent, unprovoked attack.
His refusal to admit to these crimes led to an eight-day trial process.
Because of the courage of the victims and the persistence of our officers, we accumulated sufficient evidence to ensure that a highly dangerous individual remains incarcerated for a considerable period.
This verdict reflects the dedication of law enforcement to removing violent individuals like Campbell from society.
Although justice does not erase the pain inflicted, I trust it offers some solace to the victims and their loved ones in knowing he is now behind bars.'
