NORTHWICH MAN JAILED FOR BREACHING COURT ORDER AFTER DOMESTIC ABUSE THREATS
A man from Northwich, named Jacob Snelson, has been sentenced to imprisonment after violating a court order intended to safeguard his former partner from domestic violence. He appeared at Warrington Magistrates Court on July 12, where a domestic violence protection order (DVPO) was officially issued against him.
This order strictly forbade Snelson from making any contact with his ex-partner and from approaching within 100 metres of her home.
Nonetheless, police found that he visited her residence six times within the following four days.
Authorities tracked his locations using a phone-based tracking application, revealing these breaches, including an incident where he visited her address, which was not his.
Snelson was also subject to another police order that required regular location checks, making it easier to detect such violations.
On July 17, he returned to court and received a four-week jail term after admitting guilt.
Police Constable David Howells commented, 'Snelson’s violations began almost immediately after the order was issued, which was less than five days prior and aimed at protecting a vulnerable victim of domestic abuse.
It's clear we won't need an app to monitor his whereabouts for the next month, and I hope his imprisonment reassures other victims that law enforcement will act swiftly against those causing harm, fear, and distress.' He further urged victims of domestic abuse to report incidents via emergency lines or online platforms.
The repeated breaches by Snelson highlight the ongoing threat domestic abusers pose, and police demonstrated prompt action to enforce court orders and protect vulnerable individuals.
