HAMPSHIRE MAN JAILED FOR 'HORRIFIC' CAMPAIGNS OF COERCIVE AND CONTROLLING VIOLENCE
Jacob Riordan, aged 33 and from Frimley, has received a four-year prison sentence for his brutal campaign of controlling and coercive conduct toward two women in Rushmoor, Hampshire. His abusive behavior included both physical assaults and verbal abuse, such as biting and beating the victims.
In April 2022, authorities were informed that a woman in her twenties had endured persistent coercive control and violence over two years across Aldershot and Farnborough.
She reported that Riordan would pull her to the ground by her hair, drag her along the floor, and physically assault her with kicks and punches.
He also insisted on accessing her phone and questioned her about her communications with others.
On April 15 in Farnborough, Riordan threw a piece of wood at her, pulled her hair again, and pushed her onto the floor.
He faced charges of two counts of assault by beating and engaging in controlling and coercive behavior.
Additionally, in October 2022, police received reports of another woman in her twenties who had been assaulted and subjected to ongoing coercion by Riordan since June of that year.
She sustained injuries such as bruises, a broken finger, and facial bites.
Witnesses described how Riordan would chase her in his van, threaten to crash into her, and carry out multiple assaults, including smashing her phone and punching her in the face.
Riordan admitted guilt to all charges during his appearance at Winchester Crown Court, resulting in a sentence of four years in prison.
Police officer Elaine Hughes described the case as both disturbing and heartbreaking, commending the victims for their courage in coming forward.
She stressed the importance of recognizing the seriousness of domestic abuse and encouraged victims to seek assistance, noting the support services available.
