FARNBOROUGH MAN ADAM WATSON JAILED FOR LIFE AFTER BRUTAL MURDER OF SEX WORKER
Adam Watson, convicted of the murder of a woman he had paid for sex, has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 21 years.The incident took place on September 9, 2022, when Watson suffocated and strangled 56-year-old Samantha Holden at her residence in Farnborough, Hampshire.
After the killing, Watson discarded her phone at St Pancras station before fleeing to Belgium.
He was apprehended there two days later and subsequently extradited to the United Kingdom.
Rebecca Elliott, Ms Holden’s daughter, described her mother as her closest friend, her soulmate, and most importantly, her mother.
She expressed the difficulty in processing her mother’s death, emphasizing how vividly she remembers the events and how they continue to affect her.
Court proceedings revealed that Watson had a prior conviction for assaulting another woman in 2013, to which he pleaded guilty.
He stated that he committed this act to prevent the woman from testifying in court.
During the sentencing, Judge Angela Morris noted that Watson had an extended license period from his previous conviction when he committed the murder of Ms Holden.
The court also heard that Watson had attacked other family members in 2008, including his father, brother, and sister, during which he had amputated his own finger.
Evidence showed Watson’s DNA on Ms Holden's neck and under her fingernails, and it was established that he had contacted her via an adult website where she offered her services under the alias “English blonde lady.” He had met her multiple times for sexual encounters, leading her to trust him.
Watson’s flight from the scene and subsequent arrest in Belgium were also part of the case presentation.
The emotional toll on Ms Holden’s family was emphasized, with her daughter sharing her ongoing grief and the haunting memories of her mother’s tragic death.
