JACOB BLOW TRURO MAGICIAN CONVICTED OF RAPE AND SEXUAL ABUSE IN TRURO COURT
In a case that has shocked the community of Truro, a man known locally as Jacob Blow has been found guilty of serious sexual offenses committed against a young girl during his teenage years.The conviction comes after a lengthy trial at Truro Crown Court, where the jury deliberated over multiple charges spanning several weeks.
Jacob Blow, aged 31 and a resident of Threemilestone near Truro, now faces the prospect of serving many years behind bars.
His health condition, which includes ongoing dialysis treatment, was noted during the proceedings.
Despite his health issues, Blow was present in court for the verdicts, which marked a significant moment in the case.
The court heard that Blow was charged with four counts related to sexual misconduct, including two counts of rape, attempted rape, assault by penetration, and sexual assault.
The trial revealed disturbing details of the abuse, with the jury ultimately convicting Blow of two of the rape charges and the sexual assault.
The jury, after a period of intense deliberation, acquitted him of the remaining two rape charges.
However, due to legal procedures and Blow’s health condition, the jury had to reconvene after a week to continue their deliberations on the remaining charges of assault by penetration and attempted rape.
This process was delayed by Blow’s ongoing dialysis treatment, which required special arrangements.
On Thursday, June 30, the jury returned with a verdict, convicting Blow of the remaining charges.
Judge Anna Richardson, presiding over the case, addressed the court regarding Blow’s custody status pending sentencing, which is scheduled for August.
She noted that Blow, despite knowing he faced imprisonment since the initial guilty verdicts, appeared in court as instructed.
The judge considered whether to grant bail but ultimately decided that there were no substantial grounds to believe Blow would abscond or reoffend, especially given that the offenses involved a single victim and occurred some time ago.
The court heard harrowing details of the abuse.
The first incident involved Blow kissing the girl, pulling down her underwear, touching her sexually, and then raping her.
Prosecutor Bathsheba Cassel described the victim’s account, stating, “She went on to tell the police the rapes were frequent and she would be raped once or twice a week.” The victim had initially contacted police over a decade ago but was unable to pursue the case at that time, breaking down on her way to the police station.
Blow initially denied any wrongdoing but later broke down and confessed to his father and the police.
Despite this confession, he later denied the allegations, claiming he lied initially because he thought admitting to the police would allow him to continue practicing magic without interference.

Cassel emphasized the profound impact on the victim, noting that in 2019, she found the strength to re-engage with law enforcement and participate in a video interview, which contributed to the case’s progression.
The attempted rape charge involved Blow’s unsuccessful attempt to engage in anal sex with the girl, adding to the severity of the charges.
As the case concludes, Blow’s sentencing will determine the length of his imprisonment, but the court’s decision underscores the gravity of the crimes committed and the community’s concern over such offenses occurring in the Truro area.
