CAERPHILLY PAEDOPHILE JAILED AFTER ‘PREYING’ ON YOUNG GIRL
A convicted sex offender has been sentenced to prison after being caught engaging in online predatory behavior targeting a young schoolgirl.Jack Perry, 25, of Nantgarw Road in Caerphilly, was sentenced to 22 months behind bars by Judge Eugene Egan.
The arrest followed a police investigation conducted by South Wales Police, as explained by prosecutor Abigail Jackson.
Perry admitted to multiple charges, including engaging in sexual communication with a minor, causing a child under 13 to view explicit images, and attempting to communicate sexually with a minor.
He also pleaded guilty to producing a Category A indecent photograph of a child, which is classified as the most severe type, as well as a Category C indecent photograph.
The court heard that the offences took place within Cardiff from August 28, 2024, to May 6 of this year.
Perry will be required to register as a sex offender for the next decade.
Additionally, he has been issued a sexual harm prevention order for ten years and is banned from contacting his victim until 2035, following a restraining order.
Upon release from custody, Perry will also need to pay a surcharge of £187.
In response to the sentencing, Detective Constable Laura Thomas, who led the investigation, stated: “Jack Perry used social media platforms to contact a minor who clearly indicated she was underage.
Despite knowing this, he continued in a sexual manner, sending explicit images and requesting further images.
Such behavior is illegal and utterly unacceptable.
Following a prompt online and forensic investigation, Perry was quickly identified and detained.
This experience was extremely traumatic for the victim and their family.
I commend the victim’s bravery and hope they can now work towards healing and moving forward.” DC Thomas emphasized: “We recognize how challenging it can be for survivors of sexual abuse to come forward and report these crimes.
Cases like this aim to reassure victims that they will be heard, treated with dignity, and supported throughout the judicial process.
If you have experienced sexual abuse but aren’t ready to report, please seek help; there are resources available to support you.”
