YOUNG THUG HEADBUTTED PARTNER FOUR TIMES AND CARRIED KNIFE IN STEWARTON
A YOUNG thug headbutted his partner four times and carried a knife on a busy Stewarton street.Jack Janikowski appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday, July 16 after pleading guilty to two separate charges.
The 23-year-old, of Kilmaurs Road in Kilmarnock, admitted to carrying a knife in Stewarton High Street on May 3 this year.
He also admitted assaulting his partner, repeatedly pushing her on the body and repeatedly headbutting her to her injury on May 16 on Main Street.
The court heard that a witness sitting in the passenger seat of a car spotted Janikowski with a large kitchen knife, around 6-8 inches long, and called the police.
On the same day, he admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner in that he shouted, swore, acted in an aggressive manner and repeatedly uttered derogatory remarks towards his partner.
He also repeatedly attempted to enter a property, repeatedly strike a door, refuse to leave when requested to do so and attempt to break the window of a property with a broom.
The court heard how Janikowski and the woman had been in a relationship for eight months.
They had attended her mother's house in the midst of an argument.
The woman left but Janikowski followed her down the street and headbutted her four times, causing her lip to burst.
She escaped back to her mother's home but Janikowski tried to get back in, shouting, swearing and punching his partner in the face twice.
The mother and daughter managed to get him out of the house and lock the door, before he tried to break glass on the door using a wooden broom.
Police were called and Janikowski was traced and arrested in a nearby street.
Defending, his solicitor Alex Muir said that Janikowski had shown "appropriate remorse" and that he had no previous convictions.
He added: "He recognises that these are serious matters and he had ongoing issues with drink and drugs.
He seems to have started to address both matters.
He is unemployed but has secured a college place and hopes to build bridges with his partner moving forward." Sheriff Morag Fraser placed Janikowski on a structured deferred sentence, with a first review in three months.
