IVAN KIDDLE SCUNTHORPE MAN CAUGHT WITH NEARLY 65,000 CHILD PORNOGRAPHIC IMAGES AND VIDEOS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Scunthorpe, 58-year-old Ivan Kiddle was found to be in possession of an alarming quantity of indecent images and videos, totaling nearly 65,000 files, including some depicting children. The incident came to light during a police raid on his residence on Barnetby Road in June of the previous year.During the investigation, law enforcement officials uncovered a significant collection of electronic devices and hard drives containing a staggering 64,123 images and videos. Among these, 681 files were classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of indecency. The police's forensic analysis revealed that Kiddle had stored and possibly viewed these illicit materials, raising serious concerns about his activities.
Further probing into his digital communications uncovered a troubling exchange between Kiddle and an individual he believed to be a 14-year-old girl from America. According to court reports, Kiddle engaged in conversations with this girl, during which he exchanged explicit pictures. He claimed to be in love with her, a statement that added a disturbing layer to the case. The police investigation confirmed that Kiddle admitted to possessing these images and expressed emotional attachment, which he justified as love.
During the court proceedings at Grimsby Crown Court, the prosecution, led by Nigel Clive, detailed the extent of Kiddle's digital misconduct. The evidence presented painted a picture of a man deeply involved in the possession and exchange of child exploitation material. The court heard that Kiddle had been involved in such activities over a span of years, from 1999 to 2013.
In his defense, solicitor Gordon Stables highlighted that Kiddle had pleaded guilty at an early stage of the proceedings and had made full admissions regarding his actions. The court was informed that Kiddle faced multiple charges, including eight counts related to the possession of indecent images and one count of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity.
As part of his sentencing, Kiddle was ordered to participate in a three-year treatment program aimed at addressing his behavior. Additionally, he was prohibited from residing in any household with individuals under the age of 17. The court also imposed a five-year sexual harm prevention order, restricting his access to electronic devices unless they could be verified to show no internet history. These measures are intended to prevent further offenses and protect potential victims from harm.
