ILDEFONSO VALDEZ FROM LOWESTOFT JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON GIRL IN IPSWICH
In a serious case that has shocked the community of Lowestoft, Ildefonso Valdez, a man with a history of voluntary service as a special police constable, has been sentenced to prison after admitting to multiple sexual assaults involving a young girl. The incident, which took place in Ipswich, has brought to light disturbing details about Valdez's actions and his subsequent legal consequences.Valdez, aged 41 and residing on Stanley Street in Lowestoft, appeared before Ipswich Crown Court to face charges related to four separate sexual assaults on a girl under the age of 13. During the court proceedings, he pleaded guilty to all four counts, which involved inappropriate touching and sexual contact. The court was informed that Valdez had touched the girl’s breasts and engaged in other forms of sexual contact on various occasions, actions that have caused significant distress to the victim and her family.
Following his guilty plea, Judge John Devaux sentenced Valdez to a total of 32 months in prison. In addition to the custodial sentence, the court imposed a sexual offences prevention order that will remain in effect until further notice. This order is designed to prevent Valdez from working with children once he is released, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the potential risk he poses to minors.
During the hearing, Valdez’s legal representative, Simon Gladwell, expressed remorse on his client’s behalf. Gladwell stated, “He is genuinely remorseful about what he’s done, not because of what will happen to him, but because of the impact it has undoubtedly had on his victim.” Gladwell also noted that Valdez was unable to comprehend why he had engaged in such conduct, acknowledging the sexual motivation behind his actions but struggling to understand the reasons behind his behavior.
It was revealed that Valdez had cooperated with police immediately after being confronted with the allegations, admitting to his actions without hesitation. The court was also informed that Valdez had no prior convictions and had previously served as a special constable, a voluntary police role he left before committing the offences.
Furthermore, the court heard about Valdez’s ongoing struggles with employment. Since 2009, he had faced difficulties securing stable work, despite traveling to Ireland and London in an attempt to find employment. By the end of 2011, he had been effectively unemployed, a situation that he found increasingly challenging to cope with. Judge Devaux commented on this, describing Valdez’s life as “a picture of disintegration, particularly on the financial side,” which may have contributed to his troubled state of mind.
In sentencing, Judge Devaux ordered two of the offences to carry a sentence of 12 months each, while the remaining two counts resulted in a combined sentence of 32 months. All sentences are to run concurrently, meaning Valdez will serve the total time simultaneously. The case has once again highlighted the importance of safeguarding children and the consequences faced by those who breach their trust in such a grievous manner.
