CAERPHILLY MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULTING PREGNANT PARTNER AND DOMESTIC ABUSE
A man named Ieuan Evans has been involved in multiple instances of domestic violence and assault. He pushed his partner down the stairs because he suspected she might be pregnant, and then proceeded to grip her on both sides of her head while shouting that her daughter was "trying to split them up." Evans, aged 29 and residing in Caerphilly, had been in a relationship with the victim for four months, during which he exhibited abusive behavior.
The first recorded assault occurred on December 14 of the previous year when the victim was visiting a friend; Evans asked her to pick him up as he was on drugs.
Later, Evans turned up at her friend's house and asked her to go outside, but she was too frightened.
After she left and returned home, he pushed her down the stairs.
Prosecutors claimed he believed she was pregnant at that time.
In January, Evans also destroyed her television valued at £200.
On January 20, he arrived unexpectedly while she was visiting her daughter and grandson, called her derogatory names, and threatened to harm her further.
During an argument, he told the police that his allegations were lies.
Evans pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by beating and criminal damage, with a history of violence convictions, including a previous four-year prison sentence.
He was sentenced to six months of imprisonment and a five-year restraining order.
The court judge described him as a danger and noted that his prior record showed 16 convictions for 29 offenses, including serious assaults.
His solicitor stated that both Evans and the victim had alcohol issues and that his client had used his time in custody constructively.
This case highlights ongoing issues of domestic abuse and violent behavior.
