MAN JAILED FOR 18 YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST GIRLS
A man has received a prison sentence after confessing to sexual crimes committed against young girls dating back over three decades.Ian Sutcliffe, residing on Dart Walk in Winsford, was handed an 18-year term on Friday, May 29, by Chester Crown Court.
The 58-year-old had earlier admitted to engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13 and committing gross indecency with a girl younger than 14, concerning one female victim in 1998.
He also pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault involving a girl under 16, pertaining to a second female victim, with incidents occurring between 1989 and 1994.
In April 2024, one of the victims came forward to the police, alleging sexual offences that occurred in Winsford.
She recounted being sexually assaulted and raped by Sutcliffe during her childhood.
Another woman also reported being sexually assaulted by him during roughly the same period.
Initially, Sutcliffe denied the charges during police interviews after his arrest.
However, after being formally charged, he admitted guilt in court.
Besides the prison sentence, Sutcliffe must adhere to restraining orders aimed at safeguarding the victims and is required to register as a sex offender without a set end date.
