2014: JILTED LOVER JAILED FOR SETTING UP FAKE PROFILE ON DATING WEBSITE
A 25-year-old man was sentenced to 10 weeks in jail after he created a dating profile using his former partner's name and harassed a woman on Facebook.Ian Martindale was ejected from Bolton Magistrates Court after sitting with his fingers in his ears during the hearing.
He admitted to setting up the profile on a dating website on December 31 of the previous year.
Additionally, he pleaded guilty to contacting Louise Parkin through Facebook and staying at her residence despite a restraining order issued by Manchester Magistrates Court on September 19.
Martindale also confessed to failing to surrender to custody on February 24 after being released on bail and breaching a 12-month condition discharge related to theft, which had been handed down on September 19 last year.
He received a sentence of nine weeks for creating a fake profile in Kimberley Naylor’s name, his former partner from Bolton, and an additional week for messaging Ms Parkin on Facebook.
These sentences will be served back-to-back.
Furthermore, Martindale, of Kenwood Court, Stretford, was sentenced to one more week for various other offences, with this sentence to run concurrently with the initial 10 weeks.
