FAMILY ROW ENDS IN BROTHER KILLING: ANDERSON JAILED FOR MANSLAUGHTER
A 60-year-old man, Gilvy Anderson, was found guilty of manslaughter after killing his brother, Emile Anderson, aged 50, during a family quarrel at their home on Davyhulme Road in Stretford.
The events unfolded on 16 April 2021 when Anderson used a kitchen knife to attack Emile amidst mounting sibling tensions.
Emile suffered fatal injuries and died in hospital.
Subsequently, Anderson was discovered in the garden of the property, where he told police, "I attacked him because he attacked me," and later confessed during an interview to stabbing his brother with a small kitchen knife.
The court at Preston sentenced Anderson to 15 years in prison for manslaughter.
Police representatives from Greater Manchester stated that there had been persistent tension in the household prior to the incident, which was described as highly traumatic and devastating for the family.
The sentencing process was painful for the family members, who heard the detailed account of the case in court.
