PRISON OFFICER ARRESTED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE AFTER ARGUMENT WITH WIFE
A prison officer named Iain Ramsay, aged 38, was detained for two nights after launching a series of abusive remarks towards his wife, Sarah Ramsay, following an argument upon returning from his shift at Perth Prison.
Ramsay, employed in the segregation unit at Perth Prison, was arrested on Sunday night after police responded to a disturbance at his home in Almondbank.
During the incident, he shouted and swore at his wife, calling her a derogatory term, in the presence of their two 13-year-old children.
The police detained him at the scene.
Ramsay appeared in court the following day, still dressed in his Scottish Prison Service uniform, and pleaded guilty to a domestic abuse charge.
Sheriff Michael Fletcher deferred sentencing for three months while investigations continue.
A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson commented that it was inappropriate to comment further due to ongoing inquiries.
