BURNLEY MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULTING FORMER PARTNER IN FRONT OF CHILDREN
A man named Howard Crabtree, aged 40, from Rossetti Avenue in Burnley, has been involved in multiple assaults against his former partner Rachel Conlan. The court heard that Crabtree, who was under a court injunction banning him from going to Conlan's home and from assaulting her, attacked her in front of their children on the school run after she announced she was pregnant with another man.
He had previously assaulted her, including butting her on the nose and hitting her during a confrontation when she was trying to seek help.
Crabtree admitted to two counts of assault by beating and breaching a county court injunction.
He was subsequently committed to the crown court for sentencing scheduled for December 21.
Prosecutor Christiana Buchanan stated that Conlan had been with Crabtree for 11 years, and they had five children together.
She left him in May due to his violent behavior and obtained an injunction, but Crabtree continued to violate the court orders by visiting her and assaulting her.
In one incident, he knocked her to the ground and struck her repeatedly as she was on her knees.
During a previous meeting in the street, he also butted her on the nose.
He had also received a 60-day jail sentence suspended for 12 months for breaching the injunction earlier that year.
