A teenager from Northwich has received a court sentence for his involvement in the sexual assault and rape of a minor girl.

Harvey Fairfield, who was residing in Weaverham, was convicted of committing multiple offences against the young girl during 2022, including a prolonged period of abuse.

On February 28, Fairfield was found guilty after a trial of four counts of child rape, two counts of sexual activity in the presence of a minor, two counts of sexual assault through physical contact, and one count of sexual assault by penetration.

On May 6, he was sentenced at Warrington magistrates court to a three-year rehabilitation order.

In addition, magistrates imposed an eight-week electronically monitored curfew, requiring Fairfield to stay at his home from 9pm to 6am, Sunday through Thursday, until June 30.

He was also placed on the sex offenders register for 30 months and ordered to complete 40 days of youth rehabilitation activities.

Furthermore, a two-year restraining order was issued, prohibiting Fairfield from contacting the victim directly or indirectly, including via social media, and he was barred from entering a specific address in Northwich.

Following the sentencing, there was an application submitted to the Attorney General under the Unduly Lenient Sentence Scheme.

According to official guidance, the Attorney General reviews whether a sentence is unduly lenient and, if it suspects so, can refer it to the Court of Appeal.

After review, the Attorney General decided not to refer this case to the Court of Appeal, meaning the original sentence remains in place.

Thus, Fairfield’s punishment includes the initial sentences, an eight-week electronically-monitored curfew, a two-year restraining order, and registration on the sex offenders list for two and a half years.
