FARMHAND'S ASSAULT ON WOMAN AND POLICE LEADS TO £640 FINE
A man named Gvidas Sumanas professed his love for a woman during the early morning hours after a night of drinking at an address on Longate, Peterhead. When she did not reciprocate his feelings, Sumanas reacted violently by punching her in the face, causing swelling and bruising.
Following this, police attended the scene after being contacted by the woman's male friend and found her distressed.
Sumanas became aggressive towards police officers, shouting, swearing, and punching a police officer.
He was restrained and taken to Fraserburgh police station, where during a strip search he attempted to kick an officer.
Sumanas, who has no fixed address, pleaded guilty to multiple charges including assault causing injury to the woman, assaulting police officers, and behaving threateningly or abusively.
His defense suggested his drunken state and hurt feelings contributed to his actions.
The sheriff sentenced him to a fine of £640, advising him to moderate his drinking in future and criticizing his way of showing affection as inappropriate.
